HMS Raleigh Engineers Open Day
28th September 2018
HMS Raleigh is holding an open day and is calling upon engineers past and present to mark The Year of Engineering.
Since the end of WW2, the vast majority of naval engineering ratings started their service in Torpoint joining the RN either at HMS Fisgard or HMS Raleigh. It is therefore only fitting to mark the contribution that it has made over the years and that it continues to make today.
The day will give an opportunity to partake in tours of the establishment to see how today’s recruits are transformed from civilians into sailors and to witness the passing out of a class containing a large number of Engineering Technicians. There will be an opportunity for those who wish so to form a squad, march past and salute the inspecting officer who himself joined the Royal Navy at HMS Fisgard. A buffet lunch in the WO & SR Mess is also included.
Closing date for applications is Friday 31st August 2018.
Due to limited numbers, spaces will be allocated to the first 200 applicants.
